LECCE TO GALATINA E-BIKE TOUR + OPTIONAL WINE TASTING

⏺︎ STERNATIA After a 1-hour bike ride (19 km) through the Lecce countryside, surrounded by ancient olive trees and majestic Masserias, you arrive in Sternatia. Sternatia is one of the nine towns of Grecia Salentina, where the Greek dialect Griko is still spoken. Here, you will have a guided tour (40 minutes) of an ancient underground olive oil mill (Frantoio Ipogeo), learning about the traditional methods of olive oil production. Following the visit, enjoy a bar stop (30 minutes) where you can taste the traditional Caffè Leccese and the famous Pasticciotto pastry. • 2 hours • ⏺︎ GALATINA After 45 mins bike (12km) ride welcome to Galatina! Here we visit at “The Basilica di Santa Caterina d’Alessandria” which is a real treasure of art and ancient times, This church safeguards magnificent frescoes (Giotto's school) and merges together different architectural styles- from the Roman, to the Gothic, to the Norman and Byzantine style. In Galatina you visit Pasticceria Ascalone were the first Pasticciotto (Traditional Pastry) was made back in 1740. After we have either lunch in a traditional restaurant OR a wine taste in a Wine cellar (both at an extra cost. Wine taste needs to be booked in advance) After the traditional puglian lunch we cycle to Corigliano D'Otranto. • 2 hours 30 minutes • ⏺︎ CORIGLIANO D'OTRANTO After a 30-minute bike ride (9 km), you arrive in Corigliano d’Otranto, another of the nine towns of Grecia Salentina. This area is inhabited by the Griko people, an ethnic Greek minority that has preserved its ancient Greek language and cultural traditions. Here, you will visit the medieval Castello de' Monti (1519), a fascinating blend of military and feudal architecture. The castle is surrounded by magnificent Renaissance-style round medieval towers, offering a unique glimpse into the region’s history. • 1 hour 30 minutes • ⏺︎ TRAIN FROM CORIGLIANO D'OTRANTO TO LECCE Finally, after experiencing the rich flavors of Puglia, you will take a train from Corigliano d'Otranto back to Lecce (train tickets included in the price of the tour). • 45 min train ride • Self guided option available: when chosing self guided option, you will be given the bike trail with stops so that you can download it on your phone and use your GPS. In this case there is no physical guide but you can do the tour at your own peace.
