What to Expect:

⏺︎ LECCE Meeting point in Lecce. From here, private transportation will take you to the start of the hike. The drive lasts approximately one hour. Pick-up can also be arranged from other locations south of Brindisi, including Nardò, Gallipoli, Otranto, and more (upon request). • 1 hour • ⏺︎ MARINA DI NOVAGLIE Starting point of the hike. The rocky coastline of Puglia’s southern Adriatic shore enhances the deep blue of the sea in Marina di Novaglie. This area was once inhabited by indigenous populations and later by the Greeks, though little remains today. Still, you can find traces of 9th-century Basilian monks in ancient caves once used as rock churches. • 5 minutes • ⏺︎ PONTE CIOLO After a 2.6 km / 1.6 miles hike (40 mins), we stop at Ponte Ciolo, a dramatic coastal inlet known for its historical and environmental significance. Opportunity to take a swim in the crystal-clear waters. • 40 minutes • ⏺︎ GAGLIANO DEL CAPO After a 3.7 km / 2.3 miles uphill hike (55 mins) through a scenic canyon, we reach Gagliano del Capo, an authentic Salentinian village. Here, we take a coffee break where you can taste local delicacies such as Rustico and Pasticciotto, along with a traditional Caffè Leccese. • 55 minutes • ⏺︎ FARO DI LEUCA A 5.7 km / 3.5 miles flat walk (75 mins) brings us back to the coastline, passing through olive groves, agricultural fields, and ancient stone huts known as Pagliaras — Salento’s version of the Trulli. The hike ends at the iconic Santa Maria di Leuca lighthouse, which stands 47 meters tall and 102 meters above sea level, making it Italy’s second most important lighthouse after Genoa. Adjacent to it is the historic Sanctuary of De Finibus Terrae, marking the legendary passage of St. Peter during his journey to Italy. • 1 hour 15 minutes • ⏺︎ LUNCH BREAK Here, you can choose between: A) A light lunch such as Piadina or Puccia (a traditional Salentinian sandwich) at the local Bar del Porto (lunch not included in the tour price). B) A fresh seafood lunch with panoramic views over the harbor and the sea at Ristorante da Fedele (lunch not included in the tour price). C) No lunch stop (you are welcome to bring your own food if preferred). • 1 hour • ⏺︎ LECCE End of the day. The return drive to Lecce from Santa Maria di Leuca takes approximately one hour. Drop-off is also available in any town south of Brindisi, including Nardò, Otranto, or Gallipoli. • 1 hour •
